Abstract
A large class of asymmetric resonant cavities (ARC) introduced with a whispering gallery region located deep inside the cavity was discussed. It was found that this interior whispering gallery (IWG) region separated the phase space into the two mostly chaotic regions. It was also found that the classical whispering gallery region was located at the boundary and so did not separated the phase space. The results of numerical simulations show that IWG regions were supporting excitation modes that can lead to highly directional emission patterns as on the plots.
