Abstract

Wheelchair lacrosse is a full contact adaptive sport, which has rapidly been gaining popularity in recent years. Due to its full contact nature, athletes are inherently at increased risk for a variety of injuries. In this chapter, we summarize the basic rules and equipment, review the existing research on injury statistics, discuss possible mechanisms of injury and their prevention and management, share personal sideline experiences, and identify areas for future growth in wheelchair lacrosse medical coverage.
