Abstract

University of Oklahoma (OU) has successfully launched weather radar education which is an integrated interdisciplinary approach. The main goal of the development of educational radar program were to provide a comprehensive interdisciplinary education in weather radar at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, provide extensive hands-on experience, and combines the talent of faculty members from different departments across campus with those of local scientist and engineers. Radar facilities currently available at OU's curriculum are through close collaboration with partners at the National Severe Storms Laboratory and the Radar Operations Center. The School of Meterology (SoM) has an undergraduate minor for engineering students. A new interdisciplinary Master of Science program in weather radar has been designed and is being vetted with the appropriate academic units.
