Using Include Files to Streamline Web Site Management

Abstract

The article introduces the concepts and practices of using Server Side Includes (SSI) and Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) include function to streamline Web site management by separating content from structure. Examples are given with details. Comparison is made in terms of ease of use and functionality. Alternative practices such as using Dream-weaver templates and creating database-driven Web pages are also discussed and compared with SSI and PHP include. Recommendations are made in terms of when to use which method.
