Abstract
The purpose of this article is to review and discuss several issues concerning amino acid digestibility in poultry nutrition which are not totally resolved. Some issues are more resolved than others. These issues are as follows: Which method should be used to determine amino acid digestibility? Are amino acid digestibility values determined with cecectomized roosters similar to and interchangeable with broiler chicken ileal digestibility values? Should apparent or standardized amino acid digestibility values be used in feed formulation (which is preferable?)? which type of basal endogenous amino acid correction should be used for standardized amino acid digestibility values? Which type of indigestible marker should be used and how should digestibility values be calculated when using a marker? What to do about the effect of bird age on amino acid digestibility in feed formulation? And, what values should be used for digestible amino acid requirements?
