Abstract

The ability to create, manipulate and characterize arbitrary quantum states is vital to the full exploitation of the potential of quantum technologies. An overview is given on the theoretical and experimental investigations on the production of general quantum states of two qubits, represented by the polarization degrees of freedom of photons.
