Abstract

In this paper, we present an analytical framework to investigate time-optimal trajectories in dc-dc buck, boost, and buck-boost converters using Pontryagin's maximum principle. Particularly, we evaluate cases where a time-optimal transfer of converter states can be achieved with a single switching action, and furthermore, determine if such a control can be uniquely synthesized.
