Time-domain finite-element simulation of three-dimensional scattering and radiation problems using perfectly matched layers

Abstract

An algorithm for realizing perfectly matched layers (PMLs) in the TDFEM-based simulation of 3D open-region electromagnetic scattering and radiation problems is proposed. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed PML algorithm is sufficiently accurate and constitutes a viable alternative to the boundary integral-based schemes for the mesh truncation of open-region scattering and radiation problems.
