Time-domain finite-element modeling of electrically and magnetically dispersive medium via recursive fft

Abstract

A numerical scheme is described for the modeling of a general electrically and magnetically dispersive medium in the time-domain finite-element analysis of electromagnetic problems. This approach employs the recursive fast Fourier transform to evaluate the time convolutions induced by dispersion. Its implementation needs only the values of the susceptibility functions instead of their pole expansions as required by previous approaches based on recursive convolution.
