Abstract

Engineering analysis and design methods have advanced to enable improvements in the reliability of engineered systems by considering various sources of uncertainty associated with these systems. Because one of the primary concerns in product design is ensuring a high level of system reliability throughout the product lifecycle, the ability to deal with the time-dependent probabilistic constraints necessary to carry out time-dependent reliability analysis in design is of vital importance in practical engineering design applications. Here, time-dependent reliability is defined as the probability that the time-dependent probabilistic constraints will be satisfied throughout the designed lifetime.
