Abstract

This technical note discusses three-dimensional slot jets. Published information is unavailable on the comparison between a momentum flux analysis and data for a slot jet of limited aspect ratio. Matching depends on the selection of a spread coefficient and a virtual origin. This paper describes such a comparison for one consistent set of data. The authors state that an analytical model, based on the synthesis of momentum flux profiles, gives good agreement with experimental data when nonuniformity of exit velocity is taken into account, and the spread coefficient and origin correction are carefully selected. The results of the analysis are simple and easy to compute. (A.B.)
