Abstract

A method is presented for estimating three-dimensional rigid body motion based on two successive (in time) image frames (perspective views). The method uses differentials and does the estimation locally. A basic equation for estimating general 3-D rigid body motion is derived which contains 9 motion parameters. Various special cases are discussed. Computer simulation results for the case of 3-D translation are presented.
