Abstract

Inclusion of microvascular networks of stainless steel tubes in quasi-isotropic composite laminates constructed of IM7/977-2 prepreg has been accomplished using standard autoclave processing techniques. The focus of this study was to examine the heat transfer properties when a heat transfer fluid was flowed through the network. Significant cooling ability was achieved in a multiple tube panel. Additionally, a single tube panel was analyzed to determine temperature profile functionality and design criteria.
