Abstract

The use of the simple arithmetic mean in composites has drawbacks. To overcome these shortcomings, a form of scaled mean is proposed for the construction of composites. This form is useful for small samples that are often used for composites. The proposed form is also useful when the data distribution is unknown, or known to be non-Gaussian. Further, it enables easy calculation.
