Abstract

The unpaired electron spin density distributions in the π-systems of the radical cations of bacteriochlorophyll a, chlorophyll a and the oxidized primary electron donors P865 and P700 of bacterial and plant photosynthesis are estimated from an analysis of the hyperfine interactions between the protons and nitrogens. The analysis supports a dimeric structure for P865 and P700.
