Kuusela gratefully acknowledges U.S. Department of Agriculture McIntire-Stennis funding under project 1009830. Funding Information: The Sixth International Faustmann Symposium would not have been possible without the organizational assistance of the HessenForst State Forest Enterprise, the Hessian Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, and the hotel “Jagdschloss Kranichstein”. Volker von Groß (student from Goettingen University) provided the crucial support during the whole symposium. Wenke Franz (Technische Universität Dresden) was the “invisible hand” of the symposium. She managed the internet, the registration, the finance, the administration etc., of the symposium. Financial support was provided by the Technische Universität Dresden. Funding Information: Although many people's efforts were essential for the completion of this special section, special thanks go to Runsheng Yin (Michigan State Univ.) as the responsible editor of the journal Forest Policy and Economics for this special section, who managed all big and small problems very professionally and without delay. The Sixth International Faustmann Symposium would not have been possible without the organizational assistance of the HessenForst State Forest Enterprise, the Hessian Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, and the hotel ?Jagdschloss Kranichstein?. Volker von Gro? (student from Goettingen University) provided the crucial support during the whole symposium. Wenke Franz (Technische Universit?t Dresden) was the ?invisible hand? of the symposium. She managed the internet, the registration, the finance, the administration etc. of the symposium. Financial support was provided by the Technische Universit?t Dresden. Brazee gratefully acknowledges U.S. Department of Agricultural Mcintire-Stennis funding through ILLU875-957. Kuusela gratefully acknowledges U.S. Department of Agriculture McIntire-Stennis funding under project 1009830. Kuusela and Lintunen's paper ?Modeling market-level effects of disturbance risks in age structured forests? (Kuusela and Lintunen 2020) develops a sequence of theoretical propositions, which where needed are supported by sensitivity analysis. The propositions are easy to understand and written for comprehension by a wide audience. In a two-age class model, the paper explores random stochasticity versus the certainty equivalent, concave rather than linear surplus functions, and the impacts of market conditions. An innovative result is the lack of equilibrium cycles with a concave surplus function. Other theoretical results are rigorously presented and consistent with our existing knowledge and intuition.
