The pregnant mare

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Emergency presentation of the peripartum mare presents a diagnostic challenge with problems ranging from those associated with the pregnancy itself up to and including critical illness not directly associated with, but impacted by, pregnancy. Management is complicated by consideration for the well being of the fetus or neonate. Some commonly encountered problems of the peripartum mare are presented here, but any emergency problem of the adult horse can be present in the pregnant mare.
