Abstract

This survey of earthworms from 79 of the 102 counties of Illinois, USA, including previously unpublished records for 20 species, increases the number of species present in the state to 38. Three of these, Aporrectodea tuberculata,Murchieona muldali and Diplocardia gracilis, are newrecords for Illinois. Twenty-seven counties were surveyed that had no previous records. An historical review of earthworm research in Illinois is included.
