The Complex Coupling Coefficient of Coherent VCSEL Arrays

Abstract

We present a new experimental procedure for the measurement of the complex coupling coefficient in 2×1 coherent VCSEL arrays. The coupling coefficient is found with non-zero imaginary component, which manifests as an increase of output power and lower threshold while coherently coupled as compared to incoherent operation.
