Abstract

Physics based, efficient design and optimization methods for SMPM machines and induction machines No heuristic approaches or rules-of-thumb Reflects the effects of energy source, mechanical loads, thermal effects, and the ability to include up-to-date developments in materials and manufacturing capabilities Advantage of concentrated winding SMPM machine: higher efficiency per volume than distributed winding machine Design optimality can still hold if parameters vary within a certain range
