title = "The adults, larvae, and systematics of the Nearctic Oemopteryx Klap{\'a}lek, 1902 (Plecoptera: Taeniopterygidae)",
abstract = "The adult and larval life stages of the Nearctic species of Oemopteryx Klap{\'a}lek, 1902 (Plecoptera: Taeniopterygidae) are reviewed using color images, scanning electron microscopy photomicrographs, variation in the barcode region of the mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) gene, and distributional information. Two new species are described from the southeast Nearctic region. Adult and larval keys to Oemopteryx species are presented in addition to revised keys to genera for Nearctic Taeniopterygidae.",

note = "We appreciate Larry Everett, Tennessee Department of Environment, Knoxville, Tennessee, Eric Fleek and David Harwood, North Carolina, Department of Environmental Quality, Raleigh, North Carolina for their assistance collecting Oemopteryx specimens. Dr. Eric South, Lyons College, Batesville, Arkansas is thanked for his helpful comments and his company in collecting species of Strophopteryx from Arkansas. Dr. Matt Green, Department of Environmental Quality, Raleigh, North Carolina and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection staff are thanked for their helpful comments that improved the Taeniopterygidae larval key. We also thank Luke Myers, State University of New York, Plattsburgh, New York for the many Oemopteryx records he generated for New York and surrounding states. Similarly, we thank Dr. Richard Baumann for the multitude of O. vanduzeea records produced for California. Dr. Bill Stark, Mississippi College, Clinton, Mississippi, David Burton, University of Ottawa, Ottawa, Canada and Chuck Harp, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado are thanked for providing distributional data and making specimens available for study. We are grateful to Dr. Aaron Bell, Analytical Instrumentation Facility, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, North Carolina, for providing instruction and assistance with SEM preparation and imaging. The loan of the UKIC stonefly material to SAG was kindly coordinated by Dr. Julian Dupuis and Eric Chapman. Our sincere thanks to Dr. John Sandberg, California State University Chico, Chico, California, for his efforts in collecting fresh material from California and his thoughtful review that greatly improved the manuscript. Finally, we recognize Dr. Boris Kondratieff. Many of the Brachypterainae examined were collected and curated by Boris and the overall coverage of this study was only possible because of his lifetime of study, relentless collecting and curation of Nearctic stoneflies.",
