Abstract

Adducts of manganese(II) dicyclopentadienide, Mn(C5H5)2, and of Mn(C5H4CH3)2 with the unidentate tertiary phosphines PMe3, PMe2Ph, PMePh2, and PEt3 and with the chelating phosphine Me2PCH2CH2PMe2 (dmpe) have been synthesized. The structures of (C5H5)2Mn(PMe3), (C5H5)2Mn(PMePh2), and (C5H5)2Mn(dmpe) have been determined by X-ray crystallographic studies, and “tilted” planar cyclopentadienyl rings have been observed. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra as well as magnetic susceptibilities have been determined.
