Abstract

In this work we present a theoretical study of the electronic transport in individual metallic single-walled carbon nanotubes. Using the Boltzmann transport equation together with the heat equation, we determine the temperature along the nanotube. We show that the experimental setup has a tremendous impact on the onset of the non-linear features in the IV characteristics as well as on the electrical breakdown of the nanotube. Our results are in good agreement with experimental data.
