Abstract

An air-supported cover of 0.35-mm vinyl coated fabric was installed on a 29- × 39-m earthen-embanked swine lagoon. At a normal operating pressure of 80 to 100 Pa, leakage rate (air supplied to keep inflated) was approximately 120 L/s. Air emissions from the lagoon were approximately 1-mg/s ammonia and negligible hydrogen sulfide. Capital costs of the cover including installation were $10.03/m2. Operational costs of $12.30/month resulted from powering the electrical blower.
