Abstract

Zn 3(BPDC) 2(O 2CH) 2· 2Et 2NCHO is a new metal-organic framework with 2,2′-bipyridine- 5,5′-dicarboxylate (BPDC) groups as linkers. Although synthesized solvothermally from achiral components, this MOF has a three dimensional (3D) structure with chiral nano-pores. The zinc centers are linked together by carboxylate groups into trinuclear chains; the two terminal zinc atoms are also bound to bipyridine groups.
