Abstract
New mono(cyclopentadienyl)- and mono(pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) titanium(II) complexes have been prepared that are active for the oligomerization of ethylene to the dimer 1-butene and the trimers 2-ethyl-1-butene and 3-methyl-1-pentene. The mechanism of the catalysis is proposed to involve titanacyclopentane intermediates.
