Abstract

Supercontinuum generation using ultrafast pulses and nonlinear optical fibers has produced numerous broadband sources and enabled disparate applications. To ensure high spectral coherence, investigators have taken the advantage of birefringent all normal fibers and/or operating regimes that the supercontinuum is exclusively generated in a normal dispersion regime of birefringent fibers. (For additional information on all normal dispersion effects for supercontinuum generation, see Chap. 6by Alexander M. Heidt).
