Abstract

An updated comprehensive list of the Middle East species of the subfamily Macrocentrinae is provided. The list includes 19 valid species in the genus Macrocentrus Curtis, 1833. The macrocentrine species are reported from six of the Middle East countries, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel-Palestine, Turkey, and Yemen, with Iran being the most species rich, with 17 species, followed by Turkey, with 15 species. A single species, M. tessulatanae Hedwig, 1959 is recorded to be endemic to the Middle East region (Turkey). Macrocentrus nitidus (Wesmael, 1835) is recorded here for the first time for the Middle East region (Iran). Distributions in the Middle East countries and extralimital, as well as host record, are provided for each species.
