Abstract

A Strategic Action Agenda for Preservation has been adopted by libraries and information services (LIS) in the US, to enable them to provide strategic library and information services. The agenda has been prepared by the Future of Preservation in Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Workshop Planning Task Force. Some of the participating institutions and libraries of the Task Force, include the University of Carolina, Chapel Hill Libraries, University Library of Notre Dame, the Ohio State University, Smithsonian Institution Libraries, and the Urbana-Champaign Library. The ARL have formed this agenda as they make an effort to enable existing scholarship and anticipate the needs of future generation of scholars. ARL created the Task Force on the Future Preservation to engage research library leaders, stakeholders, and technical experts to define critical challenges in preservation work and propose an action agenda to meet them.
