After a brief review of previous work in the field of nonlinear analysis of multiphase flow, a simple model to numerically analyze the nonlinear dynamics of boiling water reactors (BWRs) is presented. Solutions show the almost generic transition for nuclear-coupled boiling channels from stable equilibria to stable nuclear-coupled density-wave limit cycle oscillations of the general type observed in two-phase flow heated channels. Aperiodic or chaotic oscillations are obtained for systems with periodically oscillating external pressure drop and periodically oscillating external reactivity.
