Abstract
A markov model is developed to evaluate mode-1 fatigue crack propagation in structures subjected to time varying random load processes. The method of analysis involves phenomenological models for material behavior and is based on the theories of linear elastic fracture mechanics and compound Poisson processes. Application based on the dynamic behavior of plates due to random transverse load is presented to illustrate the proposed techniques.
