Abstract
A simple phenomenological model to simulate fast transients expected in centrifugal pumps in nuclear power plants, is developed. The model, which is based on steady-state characteristics of the pump, has been used successfully to simulate extremely fast startup and stopping of centrifugal pumps relevant to nuclear reactor safety studies. Comparison with experimental data shows very good agreement.
