Abstract

There are 14 contributions from participants of the meeting on: the future of biometrics in forestry; spatial statistics in forestry; regression, neural nets and optimization; measuring trees in the future; artificial intelligence applications in the next generation Canadian Forest Fire Control System; autonomous forest stand-tending robots; modelling and knowledge-based systems; an overview of hypertext system development; automation for primary processing of hardwoods; conditional causality and biologically plausible knowledge modelling; fuzzy methods in forest systems; geostatistical methods for combined forest inventories; experiences with designing the forest survey of the northeastern USA; and crown transparency assessment and observer bias in forest health monitoring. -J.W.Cooper
