Abstract

The purpose of the Statewide Landfill Inventory is to determine the location and characteristics of all known landfill, impoundment, and land application waste disposal sites in Illinois at which hazardous wastes may have been disposed. To accomplish this purpose, all of these types of disposal sites (both industrial and municipal) in Illinois are being inventoried and characterized. This is being accomplished by compiling information from various governmental agency data files, published reports, and local records. The inventoried sites are predominantly off-site with respect to generators of waste, but facilities that are primarily generators of waste are included in this study if wastes are permanently disposed of on-site.
