Abstract

A new and alternative approach to compute the field distribution of the dominant mode was suggested which considerably simplifies the computer implementation of the port algorithm. A coaxial cable was selected with a short circuit termination. The standard three dimensional representation of the solution for three quarters of the length of the coaxial cable and the one dimensional transmission line model for the remaining quarter was used. The results show that the numerical reflection coefficient converges with optimal rate towards the analytical solution.
