Abstract
A review is presented of transport in electrolytic systems. Seminal advances are identified which have influenced the growth of the field. Interesting research problems are identified where improved understanding would benefit a large number of electrochemical and other technologies. These include convective transport at irregular surfaces, analysis of complex reaction sequences, multi-phase phenomena, and phase transformations.
