Abstract

The article presents information on a study regarding sourcing pipestone without destroying irreplacable artifacts. It mentions the analysis of pipestone sources using traditional laboratory techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD). Pipestone is generic term for group of stone that can be hand-carved: fine-grained, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks including argillites.
