abstract = "The resonant line shape at the Mn L edge in Pr 0.6Ca 0.4MnO 3, at T N<T<T oo and at T<T N was measured. It was found that the Mn sites are highly mixed between the Mn 3+ and Mn 4+ formal oxidation states. The magnetic correlations are longer ranged as compared to the orbital correlations. The results emphasize the sensitivity of resonant diffraction at the Mn L edge to the ground state of the 3d electrons.",
