Abstract
Mathematical models of discontinuous dynamic systems in Banach space are developed. The sliding mode equation for semilinear parabolic systems is shown to be well posed using the regularization principle. The synthesis of a discontinuous control that imposes the desired dynamic properties as well as robustness with respect to external disturbances on the closed loop system is presented. The results are applied to the design of a Sliding Mode - Model Reference Adaptive Controller (SM MRAC) for heat processes.
