Abstract
This article discusses the principles of traffic signal coordination (traffic light synchronization) at intersections on a roadway network. It presents the variables affecting traffic operation at signalized intersections and how to select them to maximize it efficiency. Effects of cycle length, split, and offset are discussed. Types of signal coordination are illustrated.
