Abstract

The z-scan method was generalized to allow the measurement of very low values of σ₂ at moderate intensities. For purpose of demonstration, the generalized method was used to measure the σ₂ of Rhodamine 6G dissolved in methanol at 806 nm. The results confirm that the generalized z-scan is a simple method to determine the two-photon cross section of molecules.
