Abstract
The z-scan method was generalized to allow the measurement of very low values of σ2 at moderate intensities. For purpose of demonstration, the generalized method was used to measure the σ2 of Rhodamine 6G dissolved in methanol at 806 nm. The results confirm that the generalized z-scan is a simple method to determine the two-photon cross section of molecules.
