Abstract

In this paper, the route to chaos in a periodically converging-diverging wavy channel is numerically investigated. Two different practices of imposing the periodicity boundary condition are observed to produce different transition scenarios. The transition scenario predicted by one practice is seen to follow the Ruelle-Takens-Newhouse theory. On the other hand, a slightly different practice reveals a different transition scenario.
