Abstract

Selenium variation on a cysteine theme: Selenocysteine (Sec) has been employed in a number of chemoselective ligations. Sec can be used for native chemical and expressed protein ligation, and Se-alkylated Sec-peptides are versatile precursors for dehydropeptides. The latter can be used for chemoselective and convergent preparation of peptide conjugates (see scheme).
