Abstract
A critical reading of the "hood" movies of the past decade is offered. The author discusses the possibilities of a critical, ethnic cinema, a cinema that honors racial and cultural difference. Such a cinema operates as a political and pedagogical force in the cultural wars surrounding race in America today.
