N2 - Despite the challenges of time, complexity, and evolving advanced technology, a dedicated group of experts implement the world's most powerful network and run real-world application that stress its capabilities each year. An annual project in ultrascale networking and computing is an encouraging indicator of the growth in this technology. The 22 Bandwidth Challenge applications at SC2000 and SC2001 not only used SCinet bandwidth and advanced features efficiently but also showed the need for increased network speed and function to unleash important applications that carry out scientific and collaborative missions in upcoming years.
