Scenario of application layers for Grid-enhanced International Digital Library in medical imaging

Abstract

As scientists and researchers gain knowledge and continue to deal with vast amounts of new information-including digital data, research documentation, and educational course materials -globally-scaled digital library (DL) systems become increasingly important environments for international collaboration. This paper presents a framework of Grid-enhanced International Digital Library (GridlDL) for medical imaging - an innovative Internet service of medical imaging and collaborative tools for future research and clinical use. The GridlDL system deploys Grid computing to applications of medical imaging by dynamically integrating image database and analysis tools together on a global scale. This study serves as the initiative and linkage between Grid middleware and medical imaging applications.
