title = "Robots for Humanity: In-Home Deployment of Stretch RE2",
abstract = "Assistive robots hold the promise of enhancing the independence of individuals with significant motor impairments in both social and physical interactions. Tele-operating these robots has been shown to be an effective solution and fulfills the users' desire to maintain control. To assess the utility of the Stretch RE2 and the usability of its tele-operation interface, we deployed the Stretch RE2 in the home of Henry and Jane Evans. With the help of an Occupational Therapist (OT), the robot was utilized to assist Henry in his daily activities. The study consisted of 3 one-week participatory design sessions where we iterated on the interface's design and capabilities based on Henry's feedback. Henry performed activities of daily living (ADLs), assisted with chores, and engaged in social activities.",
