Abstract

Discusses the importance of ritual in the moral theories of Sung neo-Confucians by focusing on Confucian Chang Tsai's thought. Importance of Chang's contribution to the formulation of a monistic ontology and a materialist notion of the cosmos based on the concept of chi; Cosmic hierarchy; Cosmos of matter; Corporeal nature of human existence.
