Abstract
Funded research contracts provide a significant level of support to electrical engineering programs at colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. At some institutions, the research-supported component of the budget is greater than the instructional budget. Because funded research is vital to most electrical engineering education programs, the process by which funded research is obtained is equally important. This paper focuses on this process in electric power engineering.
