N2 - The goal of Project F-69-R is to provide researchers and managers with the information necessary to manage, sustain, and improve the health of fisheries resources in Illinois lakes and streams. As such, there were four primary objectives identified during Segment 23: (1) conduct annual creel surveys on selected lakes; (2) begin development of new tools for assessing the sport fishing quality of Illinois fisheries; (3) provide development and maintenance support to DNR Fisheries for the FAS public website; and (4) incorporate FAS databases to aid in the analysis of ongoing research projects and pertinent management questions.Creel surveys were conducted on 8 lakes in Illinois during the 2009 portion of Segment 23, bringing the total to 342 total creel surveys on Illinois lakes since 1987. At the request of Illinois Department of Natural Resources, funding for Segment 22 was extended to June 30, 2009 and the project fiscal year was shifted to July 1 going forward. Eight creel surveys were initiated in the spring of 2009 using additional funds provided through a combination of funds from the extended Segment 22 and Segment 23, and the final results of those creel surveys are presented here. All of these lake creels were funded by Project F-69-R with additional financial support from IDNR Division of 3Fisheries. At the request of Illinois DNR Division of Fisheries,no creel surveys were conducted in 2010, and Job 1 was amended to include the use of field crews to collect enhanced fish population information on selected lakes, rivers, and streams. This collaborative effort between INHS and DNR Fisheries was initiated in was redirected to Jobs 2-4.
